While then-Vice President Joe Biden maintained he had no knowledge of his son Hunter’s business activities, Congressman James Comer (R-KY) and other Republicans have been investigating their ties to oligarchs from Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.
These revelations raise serious questions about whether or not President Biden allowed himself to be “the brand” sold to enrich his family while in office.
According to communications recently revealed by the committee, Hunter sought to capitalize on “the brand” of the Biden name by offering access to his father for payment.
In February 2014, Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg sent a $3.5 million payment to Rosemont Seneca Thornton, a firm founded by Hunter and associate Devon Archer – despite denials from Vice President Biden that any foreign money was taken during his campaign for presidency last year.
Even more egregiously, Hunter was hired as counsel for Burisma Holdings Ltd., earning more than one million dollars per year – at the same time that then-Vice President Joe dined with oligarchs who had paid money into accounts associated with Hunter and Archer.
Further damning evidence has come out regarding payments made specifically between Kazakhstani oligarchs and Hunter himself.
In April 2014, an unnamed Kazakhstani wired him enough money for a sports car purchase which was completed shortly after.
The following day saw executives from Burisma visiting Kazakhstan in what could be understood as thanks for their financial assistance – though both parties deny any wrongdoing in this case too.
Finally, it is believed that members of the Bidens were behind Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin being fired due to perceived threats he posed against their interests at Burisma.
Devon Archer testified before Congress that he witnessed Joe joining meetings related to this issue regularly throughout his vice presidency tenure.
