Shop NowThe recent release of an audio recording of former President Donald Trump discussing sensitive information is yet another example of the federal government’s lack of credibility, according to former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
During an interview on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, McEnany and Hannity discussed the contents of the recently obtained tape by CNN which features Trump talking about a Department of Defense plan concerning Iran.
McEnany expressed her disbelief at how details from a court case handled by the Special Counsel were easily accessible to CNN and other liberal outlets.
She noted that this does not help instill confidence in our government institutions when they are unable to keep their processes secure.
In response, Hannity pointed out that this “whataboutism” — referring to equal justice and equal application of laws — was necessary as there have been many cases where those in power seem to get away with anything from deleting emails under subpoena to using false evidence for FISA applications.
It has been reported that the jury pool for Trump’s federal trial will come primarily from counties he easily won in both 2016 and 2020; including counties like Okeechobee County (71.5% vote), Highlands County (66.8%), Martin County (61.8%), Indian River County (60.2%) and St Lucie County (50%).
This could prove advantageous for Trump as his appointed judge Aileen Cannon has indicated that the trial will take place in Fort Pierce — located in Florida’s Southern District — where she usually sits as well as potentially being moved closer to West Palm Beach, where classified documents were found and are also close to where Trump lives now.
All signs point towards potential advantages for Donald Trump when it comes time for his federal trial not only due to location but also because he was able to win big majorities in key counties across Florida during both 2016 and 2020 elections.
It remains unclear whether or not these factors will be enough however only time will tell what happens with this case moving forward as more details unfold.
