Shop NowIran issued a clear warning on Thursday to their Arab neighbors. “Stay out of it.” Most of the “oil-rich Gulf Arab states” are allied with the United States on the Israeli side of the impending war. For now, the Arabs agree to watch from the sidelines. World War III could kick off yet but there’s no need to hurry things along.
Iran threatens neighbors
Iran is “issuing covert diplomatic warnings,” experts observe. The Ayatollah is terrified of major airstrikes against his nuclear facilities and oil fields.
The only chance he has of preventing total annihilation involves intimidating his neighboring countries into closing their airspace. Iranian officials used Wall Street Journal to get their message out.
Everyone is expecting “harsh retaliation” from Israel. Supposedly, the trigger is a barrage of “approximately 180 ballistic missiles” which the Ayatollah fired at Israel. Actually, the core of the current dispute goes much deeper than that.
Iran has been paying Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis to terrorize the Israelis nonstop for the past year. Starting with the big surprise invasion on October 7, 2023. The only way to end it is put the Ayatollah out of business.
“Israeli officials and commentators are pushing for significant strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities or oil infrastructure.” That would put a dent in the Ayatollah’s plans, for sure.
“In response, Iran has warned it will strike Israel’s civilian infrastructure and retaliate against any Arab state involved in facilitating such an attack.” By “facilitate” they mean allowing Israel to fly through their airspace or existing U.S. bases to attack Iranian interests.

Arabs sticking together
Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar all “host U.S. troops.” Each and every one of them told Joe Biden that “they do not want their military infrastructure or airspace used by the U.S. or Israel for offensive actions against Iran.”
This is their leverage to put pressure on the alliance to formally recognize Palestine. That’s another whole set of issues all by itself. Reasonable people would love Palestine to have a state, as long as it isn’t being run by radically anti-western terrorists.
The Iranian threats were intentionally vague but everyone knows what they’re saying. They “have alarmed energy-rich Gulf states, which have long believed their oil facilities were shielded by American security guarantees,” Arab officials explain. That’s their official reason. The real reason is a two state solution for Palestine.
U.S. Defense officials admit that “some regional partners have informed the Pentagon they do not want Israeli warplanes flying over their territories or U.S. troops launching offensive actions from their soil.” Fighting back against Iran if we’re attacked is okay, though.
The Ayatollah’s message “emphasized the need for regional unity against Israel and the importance of securing stability. It also made clear that any assistance to Israel, such as allowing the use of a regional country’s airspace for actions against Iran, is unacceptable,” an Iranian spokesperson relates.
The Ayatollah is currently hiding in a bunker he hopes is still secret, waiting for Benjamin Netanyahu to make his move. This little snag shouldn’t prevent a major response. There’s a good chance the IDF were expecting it and already planned around using neighboring airspace. After the exploding Hezbollah pagers, who knows what Israel may have up their sleeve.
