Fatal Sacramento Mass Shooting

Six people are dead, and also at the very least fifteen are injured from a shooting in downtown Sacramento, California. A mass shooting occurred in a preferred nightlife area with dining establishments as well as bars not much from the Golden 1 Center, where the Sacramento Kings play their home video games.

“Officers located at least 15 shooting victims, including 6 who are deceased,” the Sacramento Police Department wrote on Twitter. “Conditions (of the victims) unknown at this time. Please avoid the area as a large police presence will remain and the scene remains active.”

Berry Accius of Sacramento’s Voice of the Youth– a mentorship and training organization– stated the scene was “chaotic.”.

“A lot of victims with blood, just watching some of the families that didn’t know if their loved one was alive, running, trying to figure out what was happening, people distraught, people discombobulated,” Accius told KXTV. “It was just horrific.”

“I’m just shocked that somebody would come here to a place where it should be safe and do something as heinous as this with multiple victims, not only just shot but dead in our city,” Accius added. “Right here in downtown, in a safe space.”

Accius told the Associated Press, “The first thing I saw was like victims. I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood in her body, a girl taking off glass from her, a young girl screaming saying, ‘They killed my sister.’ A mother running up, ‘Where’s my son, has my son been shot?’ You know, commotion, trauma. It’s just a lot of things that, you know, you don’t want to see.”

Another eyewitness told KXTV, “As soon as we heard the first gunshots, we just, all we did was just hide. That’s the first thing that came in their own mind at least.”
