Congresswoman Brutally ATTACKED

A congresswoman was viciously attacked in the elevator of her very own Washington D.C. apartment building on February 9.

50-year-old Rep. Angie Craig threw hot coffee on her attackers in self-defense and suffered a “minor injury to her chin” from the assault, according to the United State Capitol Police.

At this time, no arrests have been made, as the assailant fled the scene shortly after the attack.

Craig’s Chief of Staff Nick Coe released this statement:

“Around 7:15 a.m., Rep. Craig was assaulted in the elevator of her apartment building in Washington DC. Rep. Craig defended herself from the attacker and suffered bruising, but is otherwise physically okay. There is no evidence that the incident was politically motivated.”

Craig publicly thanked the DC Metropolitan Police Department for their “quick response” to the incident and has requested “privacy at this time.”

Democrat Angie Craig is currently serving her third term in the House of Representatives representing Minnesota’s Second Congressional District.

Craig reported to police that she noticed a person in her building’s lobby behaving in an erratic manner and appeared to be intoxicated on an “unknown substance.”

That same person entered the elevator with Craig, where they “began to randomly do push ups” before they punched her in the face and grabbed her neck, according to the police report.

The WCCO reported that, “The assault on Craig comes as members of Congress are facing a high number of threats against them. The U.S. Capitol Police investigated roughly 7,500 cases of potential threats against lawmakers in 2022, the agency said, down from 9,600 cases in 2021 and 8,600 in 2020.”

The case is currently under investigation.
