Shop NowJust when we thought CNN couldn’t sink any lower, reports have emerged that the network’s anchor Don Lemon had sent text messages to disgraced actor Jussie Smollett while the Chicago Police Department was investigating him for allegedly perpetrating a hoax hate crime against himself.
While Jussie Smollett was testifying at his own trial on December 6th, he stated under oath that he had received a text message from Don Lemon informing him that the Chicago police did not believe his account of what occurred the night of the alleged “hate crime” when Jussie claimed he had been attacked by two white, racist, homophobic Trump supporters in MAGA hats.
According to reporting from the Daily Mail, Smollett’s statement “was presented and then struck from the record.”
This is not good news for CNN, as the network is currently dealing with a major scandal regarding Lemon’s on-air pal, Chris Cuomo, who was fired for using his CNN connections to help his brother, the disgraced former governor of New York.
Cuomo allegedly used his connections as an anchor to essentially stalk the women accusing his brother, Andrew Cuomo, of sexual misconduct, in order to discredit them. Now, the allegation that Don Lemon potentially used his position as an anchor to get inside information about the investigation into Jussie Smollett paints the picture that CNN is a bastion of corruption, which is something that conservatives have been alleging for a long time.
While conservatives have known that CNN anchors used their positions of power to help Democrats, these allegations go beyond that, and they are so brazen that they can’t be hidden from the politically uninitiated and the sheep who believe that CNN is “real, unbiased news.” The implications of the Don Lemon scandal and the Chris Cuomo scandal may actually have an effect on the American public’s trust in media, and it’s something we’ve been hoping would happen for a long time now.
