Australia is one of the “Five Eyes” spy network nations. They have some interesting things to say about the power “axis” forming between China and Russia. Especially since they added Iran and North Korea to their little club. Director-General Andrew Shearer, who’s Australia’s top intelligence official, warns that the partnership is “profoundly troubling.” It’s a good thing Donald Trump got elected.
Five Eyes spooked
The “Five Eyes intelligence alliance,” between Australia, the U.S., U.K., Canada and New Zealand, “is working urgently to devise effective measures.” The thing that has them all so spooked is the cozy relationship building between two major powers and two unstable radicals.
China and Russia are apparently teaming up. They seem to have a scheme of leveraging Iran and North Korea to do their dirty work.
The primary objective behind the courtship appears to be helping Russia defeat Ukraine. The alliance has been funneling “strategic support” to Vladimir Putin.
While appearing at the Raisina Downunder conference in Canberra, Shearer emphasized that Five Eyes is keeping a close watch on the new friendship because it “poses a significant challenge to global stability.”
This is an issue which can’t just be swept under the rug, he implores, noting “the West has underestimated the strategic impact of these nations’ coordination.”
Joe Biden’s administration has been particularly clueless. This isn’t something which popped up like a mushroom, overnight. Five Eyes has been watching the key players closely.
China propping Putin
Five Eyes has confirmed that China is providing “massive” amounts of “dual-use” assistance to Russia. That’s things which can be provided for purely civilian and humanitarian purposes but used to make running the war a little easier.
Things like “economic, diplomatic, and logistical assistance.” The Pooh Bear is “sustaining Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine.” Xi Jinping’s support “is keeping Putin’s army in the field, killing innocent Ukrainians, as surely as if they were providing artillery ammunition and missiles.”
Five Eyes has been watching all of the deals closely. Iran has been happy to supply drones. The Ayatollah is desperate to raise cash. Hezbollah has been blazing through the stockpile of short and medium range missiles.
Not to mention their soldiers all need new pagers and radios, since the last batch suddenly exploded. North Korea had been providing Russia with missiles. Recently, they sent over 10,000 combat troops to replace Russian casualties.
To Shearer, the evil alliance is “one of the strategic challenges of our time.” Five Eyes, he assures, is working round the clock to figure out a way to keep the group in check. They’re also bearing in mind that there are other groups active on the fringes which benefit from what China and Russia are up to.
“Shearer’s warnings come amid escalating concerns over increased cooperation among authoritarian regimes.” Five Eyes thinks it wouldn’t be hard for the Russian war with Ukraine to start influencing whats going on in the unstable Mid-East. The Ayatollah could call in a few favors from Vlad, now that Israel seems to be centering him in their crosshairs.
