Shop NowIsraeli forces took drastic measures in the occupied West Bank, starting around midnight and into Wednesday morning, August 28. Local journalists say they “haven’t seen anything of this scope and scale” since the uprising called the “second Palestinian intifada” a couple decades ago. The raids on mostly Palestinian territory come after “months of escalating violence.”
West Bank raids
The “West Bank” region “has seen many clashes between Palestinian armed groups and Israeli forces” since Hamas conducted a sneak attack on southern Israel. October 7, 2023, “around 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 taken hostage.” Israeli officials weren’t about to let that go unanswered. They vowed to wipe Hamas from the face of the earth.
Daily, they’re coming closer to accomplishing that goal. So far, most of the action has been where Hamas hangs out, Gaza. This morning’s air strikes and troop deployments mark an expansion into outlying territory.
It’s being reported that “hundreds of Israeli forces” are active in at least four different cities, all located in the northern part of the West Bank. Beginning at midnight, the IDF sent strikes over and into Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus and Tubas.

Nine are reported dead in Jenin, six of those were confirmed as Palestinian fighters. One reporter notes “hearing of gun battles going on inside the urban refugee camps.”
The Israeli military put out a brief statement which only says they’re “working with other security forces on a counter terrorism operation.” Foreign Minister Israel Katz had something a little stronger to say.
“The military has been acting since last night with full force,” the diplomat declares, “aiming to dismantle Iranian Islamist terrorist infrastructure.” They’re doing a great job of it in the West Bank.

The same determination
Terrorists are terrorists no matter where they’re operating from. It doesn’t matter if they call themselves Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthi or fly some other flag. Hamas is being bombed out of their tunnels, Hezbollah is ducking rockets in Jordan.
Other radical Palestinian Arabs are infesting the West Bank. The Israelis aren’t about to wait for the terrorists to bring the fight to them. They’re doing unto others and doing it first.
One of the things rattling the Arab world on Wednesday are the hints that Palestinian civilians may need to be evacuated from the West Bank. Minister Katz mentioned, sort of in passing, that there might be “possible Palestinian evacuations.” Maybe. That makes the Middle East nervous because it’s “something we haven’t heard in an official capacity before.”
In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli occupation military has launched a “major operation” in the refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas governorates, deploying drones, bulldozers and hundreds of ground troops.

Katz isn’t “speaking on behalf on the military at this stage but clearly he wants that to be a message going out to the world.” If you’re not a terrorist and you live in the area, now is the perfect time to take a vacation somewhere far, far, away.
Palestinians in the Gaza strip learned real fast that when the Israelis warn you to evacuate, they mean business. Anyone left behind is either a terrorist or the enabler of a terrorist. The Israelis can’t help it if the Hamas terrorists like to use their kids as shields. It won’t work.
The West Bank isn’t the only place seeing heavy action Wednesday morning. According to the Hamas-run health ministry, “58 people have been killed in attacks over the last day in Gaza.” The IDF hit Deir al-Balah killing “at least eight.” Tanks rolled into the center of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Eleven were killed. The IDF also blew up a two mile long stretch of tunnel in central Gaza.
