Once again, the state of Texas is taking up the fight for states rights over federal government rule.
This time, however, it is the hot potato of the day… abortion.
While it may be a temporary win, Texas scored a win, and I know this will not sit well with Biden.
Some may say Texas went too extreme with its abortion restrictions.
No exceptions, period, even if the mother’s life is in danger.
Because of that rule, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) was put into play that would force exceptions.
Texas AG Ken Paxton filed suit to block the legislation, claiming it violated the state’s rights.
A federal judge agreed with him and has ordered a temporary halt to EMTALA.
After the ruling came down, Paxton stated, “We’re not going to allow left-wing bureaucrats in Washington to transform our hospitals and emergency rooms into walk-in abortion clinics, and the decision last night proves what we knew all along: the law is on our side.
“No matter how many backdoors Joe Biden attempts to go through to illegally force abortions in Texas, I will fight back to defend our pro-life laws and Texas mothers and children.”
Now, Health and Human Services has to go back to the drawing board to figure out how it can next try to circumvent state laws and force abortions in pro-life states.
