The avalanche has begun and the former poster-boy of the Democratic party, the man they called upon to replace Joe Biden as their nominee, the man for whom the mainstream pundits declared themselves “Cuomosexuals” is being buried. Reports are now emerging that last year, Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York summoned an aide to his Executive Mansion at 138 Eagle Street in Albany, reached under her blouse “aggressively groped” and fondled her. This woman whose name is being withheld by the TimesUnion who broke the story would be the sixth alleged victim of Cuomo.
Another Aide Comes Forward
According to the TimesUnion,
“The staff member, whose identity is being withheld by the Times Union, had been called to the mansion under the apparent pretext of having her assist the governor with a minor technical issue involving his mobile phone. They were alone in Cuomo’s private residence on the second floor when he closed the door and allegedly reached under her blouse and began to fondle her, according to the source.”
The younger woman told the TimesUnion that this was not the first instance of Cuomo touching her and that he “frequently engaged in flirtatious behavior with her.” The allegations are reportedly so serious that they could potentially be pursued as a misdemeanor sexual charge.
To that end, Fox News Reports that Police received a report from the New York State Executive Chamber as normal protocol that “New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo may have been involved in an incident that could be a crime.
“As a matter of state policy when allegations of physical contact are made, the agency informs the complainant that they should contact their local police department,” said Beth Garvey, Acting Counsel to the Governor, in a statement provided to Fox News. The agency is the Executive Chamber.
“If they decline, the agency has an obligation to reach out themselves and inform the department of the allegation. In this case the person is represented by counsel and when counsel confirmed the client did not want to make a report, the state notified the police department and gave them the attorney’s information,” Garvey said.
Albany police have not yet opened an investigation, however, the ongoing investigation of sexual harassment claims by New York State Attorney General Letitia James is in progress. The AG is reportedly assembling a team to investigate all claims against Cuomo.
In yet another of a mounting list of denials Gov. Cuomo responded with a statement, “As I said yesterday, I have never done anything like this. The details of this report are gut-wrenching. I am not going to speak to the specifics of this or any other allegation given the ongoing review, but I am confident in the result of the attorney general’s report.”
More Than 55 New York Democrats Call For Resignation
As the accusation and denials continue to pile up, so have the calls for Cuomo’s resignation from his own party. 55 Democrats of the NY state legislature signed a letter calling for the Governor to resign stating “We have a Lieutenant Governor who can step in and lead for the remainder of the term, and this is what is best for New Yorkers in this critical time,” the statement added.”
“It is time for Governor Cuomo to resign.”
Responding to the increasingly vociferous calls following the multiple harassment claims and the COVID nursing home death scandal the New York Assembly’s Speaker has called meetings with members in conference Thursday.
“In light of the allegations concerning the Governor over the last several weeks, I will be meeting with members in conference today on potential paths forward.” Speaker Carl Heastie, a Bronx Democrat said. And more trouble is on the horizon, as Assembly Republicans have asked the Feds to investigate construction of the “Mario Cuomo Bridge” on suspicion of an alleged cover-up. Start packing Andrew.
