In this case, a young girl was merely taking a walk when she found herself being chased by two pit bulls.
She is now in the hospital fighting for her life.
Sad Day
Exactly what went wrong still remains a mystery.
Joslyn Stinchcomb, who is 15 and an avid walker, was doing her thing when her life was changed for the worse.
She found herself being chased by the dogs, who eventually caught up to her and attacked her.
Once the dogs caught Joslyn, they started to maul her, leaving her face down on the curb, still under attack when the authorities arrived.
When one of the dogs saw the deputy, it released from the girl and ran to attack the deputy, but he wounded the dog and it ran off. The second dog was scared, and also ran away, but the damage had already been done to the young girl.
Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith stated, “She was coming around the cul-de-sac and the dogs just attacked, no provocation at all.”
A family relative updated her situation on Facebook, stating, “Joslyn’s trachea was crushed and lacerated.
“She had surgery to repair it but it will take weeks to heal. In the meantime, a trach has been out in place and she is on a vent to breathe for her.”
The aunt continued, “Those murderous dogs also grabbed her hair hard enough to pull her entire scalp off. She only has a small portion of skin left on her head.
“At this moment she does not have any hair left. She will never have her hair again.
“There may be implants and things that can be done, but it will be over a year before those discussions can even begin.”
Authorities did eventually track down the owner of the dogs, charging the woman for the attack.
The local sheriff stated, “She was charged with reckless conduct, two dogs running at large, two counts of biting and attacking.
“Gruesome attack. Very tragic for this young lady and her family.”
This never happens if the dog’s owner would have been more responsible… now this little girl’s life is shattered.
