Shop NowViktor Bout has been returned to Russia.
He is a notorious arms dealer known for helping terrorist organizations.
In return, the White House was able to secure Brittney Griner, who had been locked up for smuggling hashish products into Russia.
Would you call this a fair trade?
Most people online are not, but the White House is not backing down.
Bad Deal
To be clear, I am glad Griner was freed and she was back home, but let’s not treat this any different than what it was… a politicized event.
Griner checks all the right boxes, and it was the perfect picture the White House wanted to show its wokeness.
I am going to say that multiple prisoners or someone else should have been released for Bout. That would include Paul Whelan, the former Marine, who many do not realize the whole story of in the first place.
Whelan was ousted from the Marines on bad conduct charges due to having been court-martialed for larceny, so he is not quite the hero some outlets are making him out to be.
Regardless, Bout needed to stay in jail unless we were getting a like trade, which neither Griner nor Whelan would qualify as on their own.
I will leave you with this… why are we allowing a Russian arms dealer to go free when Russia is in a war with an ally?
Am I being special, or does that not make any sense?
