Trump Swaps Toothless IG Watchdogs for Loyal Pack of Pit Bulls

The toothless “watchdogs” who collected federal paychecks as “inspectors general” have all been sent to the kennel. President Donald Trump intends to replace them with snarling and vicious pit bulls, ready to rip apart corrupt officials. A few special IG’s managed to survive the purge, including the one for the DOJ. It’s not clear what’s so special about Michael Horowitz that Trump decided to keep him around.

New pack of watchdogs

Individuals and departments intended to provide oversight of the federal workforce are often called “watchdogs.” The ones we’ve had for ages are tired and toothless.

Instead of ripping off a leg now and then, from some corrupt Deep State saboteur, they tend to roll over, wag their tail and go back to sleep.

With one stroke Donald Trump’s presidential pen, 17 of the mongrel hounds will be replaced.

Everyone expects the fresh pack of watchdogs to be fierce and loyal pit bulls, trained in the junkyard and pulling on the leash like huskies.

Once in a while, the watchdogs Uncle Sam had sleeping at the foot of his bed would sniff something suspicious and give a timid little bark. They learned not to bite anyone or there wouldn’t be any tasty treats later.

On Friday, January 24 Trump “ousted several inspectors general.” It’s “shaking up federal oversight.

Almost all

As The Hill relates, “Trump fired around 17 watchdogs at various agencies within the Defense Department, State Department, Energy Department, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Veterans Affairs and others.” They were all useless, We the People agree.

Though, we’re surprised that the one chained up in the basement of the Just Us Department wasn’t on the list. Michael Horowitz “was spared.

It’s a widespread massacre,” one of the fired watchdogs whined to the Washington Post. “Those within the Pentagon, State Department and Transportation Department were notified of the termination over email.

It’s not clear what’s so special about Michael Horowitz that Trump decided to keep him around.

Someone will clean their desks out for them and bring them the box. Trump was supposed to give “a 30-day notice to Congress of his intent,” so you can expect a few lawsuits.

Whoever Trump puts in now will be viewed as loyalists,” one horrified civil servant gasped. That, they insist, “undermines the entire system.” Meaning the Deep State government within a government system.

The independent watchdogs at these agencies are instructed to probe various allegations including abuse of power, fraud and waste.” They’ve been finding a lot of it. Things nasty enough to amount to “weaponization” of government power against conservatives. They gave a few pats on the wrist, while glossing over the worst abuses with an admonition not to get caught doing it again. They could still do it, just need to be much better at covering things up.
