Shop NowPresident Donald Trump has signed an executive order to “Make America’s Showers Great Again,” rescinding restrictions on water pressure that were implemented by former President Barack Obama.
During his first term, Trump loosened the Obama-era restrictions on water pressure for household appliances such as shower heads, sinks, and dishwashers. However, former President Joe Biden reimposed those restrictions almost immediately after taking office as part of his efforts to undo nearly everything that Trump did.
Now, Trump is once again removing these restrictions, allowing Americans to have better water pressure in their homes.
“@POTUS signs an Executive Order to end the Obama-Biden war on water pressure and Make America’s Showers Great Again,” the official Rapid Response 47 account wrote in a post on X.

Trump’s executive order repeals the Obama-era restrictions that limited how much water was able to flow from shower heads, which the left claimed was necessary for water conservation.
“No longer will shower heads be weak and worthless,” a draft of the order read, adding that the Trump administration intended to “make America’s showers great again.”
The executive order also notes that these federal restrictions on water pressure are unnecessary and are just a burden on both consumers and manufacturers.
“No market failure justifies this intrusion: Americans pay for their own water and should be free to choose their shower heads without federal meddling,” the order read.
Trump has repeatedly referenced the water pressure issue throughout his time in office and on the campaign trail, joking that the issue affects his morning routine, especially his hair. He made similar remarks while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office while signing the executive order.
“I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair,” Trump said, prompting laughter. “You have to stand under the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. It comes out drip, drip, drip, it’s ridiculous.”
Trump went on to make an important point while talking to reporters about the issue, pointing out that lower water pressure often means that “you end up washing your hands five times longer” — which effectively negates any of the so-called conservation efforts, as people may even be using more water than they would have with higher water pressure.
Trump also noted that he plans to ask Congress to pass a similar measure to “memorialize” the law and make it more difficult for future Democrat presidents to reimpose the restrictions.
Social media users celebrated the move, with many highlighting a skit from the sitcom Seinfeld, where the characters bemoan the low water pressure in their apartments:
