This week, Stormy Daniels was called to the stand by prosecutors in the Donald Trump hush-money case.
From the outside looking in, this was a complete and utter disaster for prosecutors.
In addition to her salacious testimony, Daniels may have torpedoed the entire case.
Why Call Her?
Daniels is only relevant in this case because she was the subject of the payment.
As far as the charges against Trump are concerned, she is irrelevant.
For all intents and purposes, this is an accounting case, so having her testify about the alleged events that took place that evening was utterly ridiculous.
The only possible reason prosecutors wanted her on the stand was to taint the jury’s perception of Trump.
It was just a gross miscalculation on the part of the prosecution, even the legal pundits on CNN could not hold back.
CNN legal analyst Elie Honig went nuclear about the “disaster” that was Daniels’ testimony.
He explained, “When the witness hates the person whose liberty is at stake, that’s a big d— deal!
“And she’s putting out tweets, fantasizing about him being in jail. That really undermines the credibility.
“The fact that she owes him $500,000 by order of a court, owes Donald Trump a half million dollars, and said, ‘I will never pay him. I will defy a court order,’ the defense is gonna say, ‘She’s willing to defy a court order.
“She’s not willing to respect an order from a judge. Why is she gonna respect this oath she took?’
“So, I thought it went quite poorly on cross-exam.”
So far, this trial has been all Trump, so while it seems impossible that Bragg will be able to get a conviction, you never know how a jury will go.
Regardless, Trump would seem to be set up perfectly for a win on appeal.
