We now have a much better idea of when we can expect Donald Trump’s VP announcement as well as who the top contenders likely are.
During a recent interview, Trump alluded to the fact that he would likely pick his VP in a similar fashion to his 2016 choice.
Trump had waited until about a week before the convention, which is what he said he would likely do this time as well.
Who Will It Be
This past weekend, Trump was going to run some of his top contenders in front of donors to see how they felt about Trump’s possible VP choices.
Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.), and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) are believed to be the top candidates right now.
Rubio was not even in the picture until about a month ago when he made it known that he would be more than happy to serve in a Trump administration.
This is likely because Rubio sees that as a way to propel himself to the front of the pack for 2028.
If you noticed, Governor Kristi Noem is no longer on that list, which is because she killed her career by writing about killing a dog on her farm.
No matter how she frames this, the majority of pet lovers in this country will never accept that, so she is done.
Vance has a lot of momentum, but if we are talking about a VP who can bring the most votes to Trump, that choice is, hands down, Senator Tim Scott.
If Trump’s advisers have half a brain, they will push Scott on Trump until he agrees to bring him on as his VP.
He brings a calmness that many people want to see as well as a slew of minority votes, two areas where Trump badly needs help.
