President Donald Trump got really cheesed off by drag shows at the Kennedy Center. He was angry enough to fire all the current leadership. He intends to take charge of the center personally, to usher in “a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.”
Restore Kennedy Center
Late Friday night, February 8, President Donald Trump tapped out a “flurry” of social media posts. He proclaimed that he’s “making the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., great again by firing board members and the chairman.”
As soon as center leadership woke up to the news, they issued an equally woke “early-morning statement” to complain. That’s all they can do and they know it.
“I have decided,” President Trump announced, “to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.”
The media notes he then proceeded to “attack” the Kennedy Center “for featuring drag shows.” They aren’t repeating what he said, so it must have been good.
“The Kennedy Center is an American Jewel, and must reflect the brightest STARS on its stage from all across our Nation,” Trump points out. Conservatives will be thrilled with the results. “THE BEST IS YET TO COME!” Trump added in his signature all caps emphasis.

Amazing chairman
He can be confident that things will improve because he’s appointing himself “amazing Chairman.” If Elon Musk can work crazy hours and sleep at his desk then Trump can entertain beltway arts patrons in his spare time.
According to his unofficial statement, a new board will be hand-picked soon. Trump is personally replacing David M. Rubenstein, who’s been running the Kennedy Center show since 2010.
Deborah F. Rutter will no longer be choosing the center’s programming. Treasurer Shonda L. Rhimes won’t be handling the cash from now on.

She can return home to her Shondaland and watch reruns of the “Grey’s Anatomy” show she created. The Kennedy Center managed to get a quick response out before the White House commandeered their communications.
They assure the progressive public that they’re painfully “aware of the POTUS’ social media post.” While insisting that they hadn’t received “official communications from the White House regarding changes to our board of trustees,” they instantly admit “some board members have, however, received termination notices from the Trump administration.”
The board spelled out that they’re toast. “There is nothing in the Center’s statute that would prevent a new administration from replacing board members. However, this would be the first time such action has been taken with the Kennedy Center’s board.” History in the making, once again.
