Well, he has done just that.
Trump’s attorneys have filed a motion to have the Alvin Bragg case dismissed, and they have a legitimate case.
Too Long
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has been dragging his feet on this for quite some time.
Six years, to be exact, which is way too long, which is why Trump is now claiming that his civil rights were violated.
And yes, there is precedent for this.
There was a rape case overturned when it was found that prosecutors, even though they had all the evidence they needed, chose to delay filing charges. The case is People v Regan.
Trump’s attorneys will likely point to this case to try to have the Bragg suit tossed.
Their filing stated, “The delay has prejudiced President Trump, interfered with his ongoing presidential campaign, and violated his due process rights.”
The attorneys then claim that Donald Trump was charged “more than six years after public reporting regarding the facts at issue, and almost five years after commencing a grand jury investigation and accessing substantially all of the relevant evidence.”
Anyone can see that these cases were coordinated to hurt Trump during the campaign.
The only problem is that the judge in this case, like just about every other case, does not like Trump.
His team is likely expecting defeat, but this is something that can be revisited when they appeal the case, which is where I believe Trump will win most of these cases, if not all of them.
