Shop NowFrance has been hit with an unprecedented crisis for the past several months. From protests to riots, the violence has become more frequent and severe.
Now we may be facing an even greater situation as reports have emerged that senior officers of the French army are prepared to take control of the government and detain President Emmanuel Macron due to his failure to maintain law and order in France.
This is a serious warning from 20 senior officers who have circulated their letter throughout Britain and France.
Former Parliamentary candidate with the Brexit Party Barnsley Jim Ferguson posted on Twitter that this warning allegedly comes from former chief of the Armed Forces of France General Pierre de Villiers.
The General was highly respected until he had a public disagreement with Macron over defense spending cuts which eventually led to him stepping down from his post.
Now he is said to lead a team that issued this ultimatum if riots remain unmanaged; something that seems increasingly likely as Paris-based Le Figaro reported that De Villiers argued against European policy on Ukraine saying it’s “not in their interest” and only serves America’s high-risk military policies.
Reports have also revealed that rioters are now armed with automatic weapons making it even more difficult for Macron to maintain law and order amongst citizens.
This doesn’t come as a surprise especially after watching how many times Macron faced similar tough situations during his first term like Yellow Jackets protests, Wuhan coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, and terrorism to name a few.
Even then Bruno Cautres from Sciences Po institute commented on how “entire segments of population don’t feel [Republican values] matter to them” causing additional tensions between different groups within society which could further fuel populist discourse.
It remains unclear whether or not this ultimatum is real or simply propaganda but what we do know is that France continues its descent into turmoil: cities burning, citizens terrorized all while Macron struggles against multiple issues at once.
