Senator Ted Cruz Re-Introduces the “Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act”, a bill that will stop the terrorists of the 92 year old brotherhood right in their tracks.
Senator Cruz was joined by conservative stalwarts Senators Jim Inhofe, Ron Johnson and Pat Roberts in working to hold the Muslim Brotherhood accountable for financing and promoting islamist terrorism around the world.
“I am proud to reintroduce this bill and to advance America’s fight against radical Islamic terrorism,” Cruz said. “I commend the current administration’s work calling terrorism by its name and combatting the spread of this potent threat, and I look forward to receiving the additional information this new bill requests from the Department of State.”
Senator Inhofe added that, “Since the founding of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Brotherhood affiliated groups have consistently preached and incited hatred against Christians, Jews, and other Muslims while supporting designated radical terrorists,” he continued “I am proud that under the Trump administration we continue to call out and combat radical terrorism and I am glad to join my colleagues today in reintroducing this legislation. We must continue to condemn Foreign Terrorist Organizations and hold them accountable for the evil they perpetrate.”
I’m proud to reintroduce my Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act today with my colleagues @JimInhofe, @SenPatRoberts, and @SenRonJohnson, and to advance America’s fight against radical Islamic terrorism.

Not The First Attempt by Sen. Cruz
Senator Ted Cruz has been working to force Congress to face the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood since introducing the bill first in 2015 and again in 2017, both times it died in committee.
Is the Muslim Brotherhood A Terrorist Organization?
The Muslim Brotherhood or “The Society of the Muslim Brothers” was founded in 1928 by cleric Hassan Al-Banna after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. According to JewishVirtualLibrary.org “Though many claim the organization decries violence, the Brotherhood is often viewed as the root source of Islamic terrorism.”
To explain their ideology and methods the Jewish Virtual Library references the brotherhood’s founder, al-Banna said, “It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.”
“The Brotherhood is also viewed by many in the Middle East and the West as the root source for Islamic terrorism. In 2005, a former Kuwaiti Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmad al-Rabi’, wrote in the Saudi-owned Asharq al-Awsat newspaper: “The beginnings of all the religious terrorism that we are witnessing today were in the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology…all those who worked with bin-Laden and al-Qaida went out under the mandate of the Muslim Brotherhood.”- an Excerpt from the JewishVirtualLibrary
The brotherhood is currently active in 70 countries with concentrations of force in Egypt, Syria, The Gaza Strip, Libya, Tunisia and Jordan. There are reportedly active cells in the UK, France and even here in the United States.
Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze did some of the most definitive research on the Muslim Brotherhood, outlining the recovered document “The Project” which uncovered a century long directive of “civilization jihad” against the west.
The Muslim Brotherhood is a Danger to Our Allies
The brotherhood has taken an active role in the parliaments of Muslim nations. Alarmingly in Morocco, America’s oldest treaty partner, “the Brotherhoods’ Justice and Development Party (PJD) won 107 of 395 seats and holds 12 of Morocco’s 31 cabinet positions including Prime Minister.” There is talk of a Brotherhood backed party in Syria taking control of the country if Bashar Assad is ousted.
In Jordan the Islamic Action Front, a brotherhood-backed party is posing a potential challenge to the government of King Abdullah II. King Abdullah has been a steadfast ally of the United States for his entire reign and even before as a Special Forces commander and an attack helicopter pilot. The King vowed personal vengeance against ISIS in 2016 for the deaths of his pilots and made good on the promise. It is crucial that we support our allies in Israel and Jordan and rebuke the Muslim Brotherhood in all of it’s incarnations. Senator Cruz’s bill is a major step toward this goal.
