The death of a 73-year-old Philadelphia man was caught on camera when he was beaten with a traffic cone by a group of young people.
Police stated that James Lambert passed away after being ambushed and savagely beaten with a traffic cone at about 2:38 a.m. on June 24.
NBC10 was told by the Philadelphia Police Department that Lambert had been seen walking across the street during the early morning hours when a group of seven teenagers came out of nowhere, attacking the elderly man without any provocation.
The group consisted of 4 boys and 3 girls that ranged in age between “13 to 17,” according to police.
The video initially shows one person from the group attacking Lambert as he attempted to walk away trying to make it to the other side of the street. Just a few seconds after that, another individual from the group is seen throwing a traffic cone at Lambert. Another young person chased Lambert while wearing a traffic cone over his head.
“The teens struck the victim several times with objects, knocking the victim to the ground causing injuries to his head. The victim was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries the following day,” Police said.
