Things got a little interesting on the streets of DC this week.
Reports broke very early Monday morning that Secret Service agents protecting Naomi Biden, Joe Biden’s granddaughter, had fired their weapons.
It was later revealed that Naomi was never in danger.
Shots Fired
A statement was released after the incident confirming there was never a direct threat against Naomi Biden.
The report stated, “There was no threat to any protectees and the incident is being investigated by the DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service.”
According to the report, agents saw someone trying to break into a vehicle.
An agent fired his weapon, and the suspects reportedly fled the scene.
Agents were out with Biden when they saw the suspects trying to break into an unmarked Secret Service SUV.
DC has seen a rather stark rise in car thefts over the last year.
So far this year, there have been more than 750 carjackings and more than 6,000 vehicles stolen in DC.
Democrats have been voicing concern over the rising crime rates since Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) was carjacked near the Capitol last month.
