Jack Smith Makes New Move Against Trump

The battle between former President Donald Trump and Special Counsel Jack Smith continues to rage on. And at this point, one thing is clear: Smith is livid with Trump’s attempt to delay his classified documents case.

In a motion filed by the prosecutor, it was stated that this request “threatens to upend the entire schedule…and that amounts to a motion to postpone the trial until May 20, 2024.”

Trump is accused of illegally storing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. His legal team has put forth an application for a protective order relating to comments made about witnesses and jurors, which they claim should allow them more time to prepare for the pre-trial hearing deadlines.

However, Smith believes this request is excessive and unnecessary since “the defendants already have more than sufficient discovery to provide the Court with a description of the type of information they consider relevant and helpful.”

Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan recently spoke out on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo about how he believes it would be beneficial if Republicans focused less on budget items and more on winning policies ahead of government funding deadline looming just days away.

He also suggested possibly including something in a spending bill that may reduce or eliminate funds allocated towards Jack Smith’s operation as special counsel.

Jordan went on further explain why he thinks reducing spending is important but noted that because Democrats control most of Congress right now, Republicans must agree upon a number lower than what was spent last year in order to make any progress–which he calls “a win”.

He concluded by noting that instead of wasting their energy fighting over budget items, Republicans should focus their efforts on securing our border instead seeing as Joe Biden has allowed millions of illegal immigrants into our country since taking office earlier this year alone.

With just days left before the government funding deadline arrives, Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan urges his party members look beyond squabbling over budget items and focus instead on winning some policies.
