The man managed to turn a $98 billion surplus into a $25 billion deficit in one year.

California is notorious for operating in the red.
The state was finally in the black, no small thanks to some big checks from the federal government.
As Democrats are want to do, Newsom spent it, and then some.
At the top of the list were $400 checks that went to low-income residents in the state.
Now California is back in the red, with more bad times looming.
Instead of stockpiling cash to deal with a looming recession, California is expected to fall another $30 to $50 billion short if and when the recession hits.
The timing of this could not be worse for Newsom.
Rumors are that he has his eye on the presidency if Joe bows out.
It will be tough to defend blowing an almost $100 billion surplus to voters now staring down the barrel at a country that is more than $31 trillion in debt, a number that climbs with every passing second.
