Fox News Begins Rolling Out ‘Fear’ Polls in Favor of Joe Biden

Newly released polls by Fox News report that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump in the race for the 2020 election.

The poll also suggested that the coronavirus, unemployment, and supposed racism have created an uncertain time in the United States.

Fox News Polls Show Fear is a Factor

Sixty-three percent of Biden voters said that fear that Trump would be re-elected was their primary reason for voting for Biden – opposed to the other 31 percent who said enthusiasm was backing their Biden vote.

It is nearly the exact opposite for Trump voters, where 62 percent said enthusiasm was the motivating factor, and just 33 percent said that their Trump vote would be made in fear of Biden wining.

Fear can be a strong motivating factor that may help Biden fair better in the election. From the coronavirus lockdowns leading to substantial unemployment numbers, to the riots wreaking havoc across the country, the establishment media and top Democrat leaders have used the happenings to ensure fear takes hold of society.

“Negative emotions like fear, anxiety, and anger, can be powerful motivators for political participation,” says Daron Shaw, who handles the Fox News Poll. “The lack of enthusiasm for Biden, however, does create an opening for Trump to define him as out of touch and not up to the task.”

Is Biden Actually Leading?

The polls, conducted by Shaw and Democrat Chris Anderson, also claim that Biden has the lead over Trump in a 50-38 percent margin. In May of 2020 Biden supposedly had an 8-point lead (48-40 percent). Fox News says that Biden’s now 12-point advantage is significant.

However, in the lead up to the 2016 election, polls by almost every mainstream media outlet ended up being entirely wrong. Polls by ABC, NBC, CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post all predicted Hillary Clinton would beat Trump by a substantial margin.

An ABC News poll on Oct 23, 2016, showed Clinton having a 12-point lead over Trump. On Nov 7, 2016, the States of the Nation project by Reuters/Ipsos gave Clinton a 90 percent chance of winning the election.

After the complete and total failure of polling in the 2016 election, some Americans now conclude that listening to polls is essentially a waste of time.

Trump Needs Independent Votes

“Trump needs to expand beyond traditional Republican groups and cut Biden’s support among independents,” Shaw said. “The best news in the poll for the Trump campaign is a significant percentage of independents saying they haven’t decided or are considering a third-party option.”

Independents reportedly back Biden over Trump by a 39-17 percent margin, with another 43 percent currently undecided or voting for a third party.

Biden’s lead comes from the support of black voters (+79 points over Trump), those under age 30 (+37), suburban areas (+22), women (+19), and voters ages 65+ (+10), Fox News reports.

Republicans seemingly prefer Trump (86 percent) to former President George W. Bush (72 percent).

As the coronavirus pandemic and protests over George Floyd’s death continue to affect American society, it is an uphill battle for President Trump to win the 2020 election. But he has done it before, and it is likely he could do it again.
