He’s supposed to wang chung with Foreign Minister Wang Yi until he arranges a face-to-face meeting for Joe with the Pooh Bear. It’s the only hope his legacy has left. A “final Biden-Xi summit” would “tie up the ends of the U.S. president’s most consequential – and fraught – foreign policy relationship.”
Joe Biden courts China
Joe Biden really wants to make a date with Xi Jinping. Because Antony Blinken seems to rub all the Chinese diplomats the wrong way, Joe dispatched Jake Sullivan off on “his first visit to China as U.S. national security adviser.”
Joe’s handlers want him to slap Foreign Minister Wang Yi around a little and make him see some sense. The Chinese have been wanting to slap some sense into Joe for a long time but they realize he’s too demented and incompetent to waste their time on.
Sullivan and Wang already know each other. They “have met four times over 16 months in Vienna, Malta, Washington and Bangkok.” The last time they met was in January, “shortly after a high-stakes summit between Presidents Xi Jinping and Joe Biden that sought to reset frosty ties.” They only got frostier.
This latest move underscores Joe’s total desperation. Being shoved off to the side by your underlings instead of leading the charge into another four years is frustrating. On top of that, he might be sent off to prison, along with his son and brother.
Meetings are scheduled for both Tuesday and Wednesday, which sends the media a “signal that China is still a priority for the Biden administration, even as the retiring president enters his final months in office.”
More like his final hours in office. Now that the Democrat Convention is over and everyone’s back from vacation, including Joe, they can have the talk with him about handing over the nuclear launch codes.

Timing hard to ignore
Joe’s handlers are “trying not to explicitly link Mr Sullivan’s trip to the U.S. presidential election.” The BBC adds “it’s hard to ignore the timing.”
That’s because if Sullivan can pull it off it would give Joe Biden something he can use for some sort of a legacy. He can make it seem that they have an actual “foreign policy relationship,” not just bribery and influence peddling.
Diplomats on both teams “always acknowledge that talks between Washington and Beijing are never easy.” That’s a tricky situation when “there is a lot to talk about.” The one thing Biden doesn’t want to talk about is the upcoming election.

Since he no longer has any influence to peddle, Sullivan is having a hard time convincing the Chinese to do the old guy a favor and throw a state dinner. Instead, Wang and his colleagues are “watching closely for what the next presidency might have in store.” Kamala is an idiot they can tromp all over but Trump terrifies their fearless leader.
They already know, because he announced it publicly, that Donald Trump “will raise tariffs further on Chinese goods, potentially deepening the trade war he kicked off in 2019.” Trump’s book The Art of the Deal took a lot of inspiration from Xi’s favorite, “Art of War.”
They actually see the world from the same point of view and that intimidates Xi. Trump’s crazy enough to do just about anything. Joe Biden may talk a good game and take money by the millions but he doesn’t stay bought. “He didn’t reverse Trump-era tariffs and has added more.“
