An FBI “rat” informant called “Aaron” took the witness stand in defense of Proud Boys members accused of seditious conspiracy. That’s not what he saw from the ground in the Capitol on January 6. He told his “handler” that, too.

FBI rat backs defendants

According to the Associate Press, an “FBI informant who marched to the U.S. Capitol with fellow Proud Boys members on January 6 testified on Wednesday that he didn’t know of any plans for the far-right extremist group to invade the building.

He also “didn’t think they inspired the violence that day.” What he saw was more of a “herd mentality.

In court on March 29, the FBI rat was known only as “Aaron” to protect his safety. Instead of testifying for the prosecution, Aaron was a defense witness.

Lawyers for former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and four lieutenants called him on the stand to refute there was any “plot to keep Donald Trump in the White House after the 2020 presidential election.” They may have hoped for it but weren’t close to organizing an insurrection.

In real time on the fateful day, the rat “was communicating with his FBI handler as a mob of Trump supporters breached police barricades at the Capitol.” As soon as it happened, he texted that the Proud Boys “did not do it, nor inspire. The crowd did as herd mentality. Not organized.

The jury didn’t get to see what the bureau handler texted back because it was redacted. A house oversight committee or two will be listing that text on a subpoena in the near future, though.

Crowd surged forward

Another thing the informant told the FBI that day was a report “Barriers down at capital building. Crowd surged forward, almost to the building now.” The moment things started to get interesting, the rat “contacted the agent.

In testimony he explained, to him, it was an “emergency situation.” He also noted that the bureau “didn’t ask him to go to Washington.” He did that on his own.

As a concerned citizen, Aaron asserts, “if there was any violence and all that, they would have wanted to know.” He happens to be the first FBI informant to actually testify in the trial.

We know they were peppered around everywhere. He’s also “one of the most important to come out of the Justice Department’s massive investigation of the Capitol riot.

The case prosecutors have been trying to build has been crumbling like a dry cookie. “Prosecutors have employed an unusual theory that Proud Boys leaders mobilized a handpicked group of foot soldiers — or ‘tools‘ — to supply the force necessary to carry out their plot by overwhelming police and breaching barricades.” That’s a bunch of crap, Aaron refutes. He wasn’t there to be “one of those tools.

All the FBI informant saw was “a photo opportunity for the Proud Boys.” There weren’t any plans for shooting and mayhem. “I didn’t know the specific purpose other than just being on the streets and being seen.” The only ones stirring things up appear to have been the federal agents.
