Shop NowESPN being roasted after the sports channel’s Twitter account posted a flat out lie that was previously debunked by its own reporting.
In the process of promoting a documentary about NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace entitled Fistful of Steel: The Rise of Bubba Wallace, ESPN sent out a tweet that was a blatant lie.
“Last year, a noose was found in Bubba Wallace’s stall at Talladega Superspeedway. The next day, the NASCAR community stood with him in unity,” the tweet read.

Of course, the so-called “noose” turned out to be a garage door pull rope, which ESPN even admitted in it’s own reporting on June 23, 2020, soon after the incident was investigated by the FBI. Several Twitter users responded to ESPN’s tweet with a screenshot of the article:
Political commentators and other Twitter users immediately took to Twitter to roast the sports channel for their lies, with many pointing out how tone deaf this tweet was so soon after Jussie Smollett‘s conviction for staging a fake racist hate crime.
“Watch this and learn. You’d think that they’d be embarrassed after pulling this whole gratuitous theatrical stunt in response to a garage door pull. But that’s not how the Left rolls. They double down. They never admit they were wrong. Ever,” wrote Matt Walsh, author and host at the Daily Wire.

One very astute Twitter user even pointed out the type of knot that was tied wasn’t even akin to a noose, writing: “They are still milking this fake noose story. Someone tell ESPN it wasn’t a noose. 13 FBI agents did an investigation & didn’t find a noose. They found a garage door pull-down rope, tied into a bimini twist knot (common in fishing), that had been there over a year.”

“This is another #JussieSmollett operation. There was no noose. It was the garage cord used to pull open the door. Clearly @espn is recycling this hoax in the hopes of fooling the public. No word on whether they’ve hired Jussie’s two black Nigerians to help perpetrate their fraud,” wrote author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza.

“Are you shitting me? It was a garage pull it was there for months. Even the FBI debunked this lie after sending in a dozen+ agents, and you’re still pretending it was a hate crime to sow division? What’s next the ESPN True Hollywood story of the MAGA attack on Jussie Smollett?” Donald Trump Jr. asked.
