But now, it seems that his son Eric is fighting back.
During an appearance on Newsmax TV with guest host Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Eric took some verbal potshots at special counsel Jack Smith for actions he reportedly took as part of his probe into former President Donald Trump.
Eric made it clear that he was not happy with how Smith has gone about conducting his investigation into the former president.
According to Eric, Smith went through Barron’s “underwear drawer” and “everything else you could possible imagine.”
He believes this is being done solely to try and take down President Trump by any means necessary.
Additionally, he noted that the special counsel’s wife had previously produced a Michelle Obama documentary which further raised suspicion from him regarding Smith’s motives in the case against his father.
As if things couldn’t get worse, Rep. Matt Gaetz devised a plan to legally protect former President Donald Trump from prosecution and likely conviction in a D.C federal courtroom on allegations tied to the Jan 6th riot.
These charges were brought on by Smith earlier this month per Eric’s interview on TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk’s show on Real America’s Voice streaming network.
In order to do so, Gaetz plans to bring Trump in before Congress and compel him to provide testimony that will “immunize” him from prosecution.
The Florida Republican also referred viewers to 18 U.S.C 6002 & 6005 for more information regarding this process of protection via immunization from congressional testimony.
