Deadly Father Son Shootout

Twenty-four-year-old Mike Rosado shot a man on Valentine Street in the Bronx, New York on Sunday, August 29th. Rosado was then in turn fatally wounded in a shootout with the NYPD. Two off-duty detectives confronted Rosado as he stood over the body of the man he had shot, ordering him to drop his weapon. Instead, he proceeded to fire on the officers several times before they returned fire.

Where the story takes a twist, is that Rosado’s FATHER Raphael Rosado who was with him arguing with his son’s victim then picked up his fallen son’s weapon and continued to fire at Police. Police returned fire but Raphael fled the scene, returning later when he was subsequently arrested. No Police were injured.

The Shootout

According to Yahoo News,

“The father and son had been in an argument with a group of people on the corner when it turned physical and the son pulled out the gun and fired at an adversary, cops said.”

“The dad has around 60 prior arrests on his record on charges including drug possession, assault and weapon possession, source said. The younger Rosado had been arrested a handful of times for minor offenses such as aggravated driving without a license, according to sources.”

“Immediately after shooting, the officers began rendering aid to the 24-year-old male,” NYPD Chief of Patrol, Juanita Holmes, said at a press conference.

In summary, the first gunman Mike Rosado was shot and killed by two officers of the 46th Precinct who had just finished their shifts who selflessly engaged the gunman despite being plain-clothed and vulnerable, lacking their bulletproof vests. The second gunman Raphael Rosado was arrested safely without injury and the victim survived due to the officer’s quick intervention and first aid.

Long story short: two hero cops, one victim survived, one dead criminal, and one under arrest. But… because of course they did… people on Twitter are trying to make the first gunman the victim.

Leftists On Twitter Transform A Criminal Into The Victim

It didn’t take very long at all. Within mere hours of Rosado’s death, a gofundme was created for his family which is up to over $8,000 with a goal of $10k  and tweets like this accompany it:

  • “The NYPD has been killing people for decades. The NYPD killed Mike Rosado on Sunday, August 29, 2021. May they all rest in eternal in peace.”
  • “This story is Bullshit. Police cover-up.”
  • “VERY SADNESS CUZ THIS GUNS VIOLENCES TAKING WAYS FAMKLY MEMBERS NYPD LAWS ENFORCEMENT SO MUCH THEY CAN DO THE LAWS SYSTEM POLITICIANS DOESN’T ENFORCEMENT ENOUGHT OF PENALTIES ” (Easily the least coherent of the bunch)

Rosado’s family and friends seem to be intent on turning this objectively clean shoot by the officers into Michael Brown redux complete with assertions that the shooter was shot “with their hands up”, complete with a protest outside the bodega near the precinct over the weekend.  The Daily News reports,

“His family alleged Rafael’s son, Mike Rosado, was shot with his hands in the air. They said the off-duty cops who opened fire did not identify themselves as NYPD.”

“My son was shot ruthlessly. By law you’re not supposed to shoot someone with their hands up,” said Rosado’s mother Marta Negron.

Video captured by surveillance cameras at the scene do not clearly show Rosado being shot by the NYPD but does show how the initial shooting occurred. By the time we see Rosado with his hands up, he’s already been hit and is leaning against a car while his Father fires upon officers.
