Shop NowJoe Biden, Merrick Garland and Jack Smith announced a case against President Trump.
It was revealed that the case had been assigned to an Obama-appointed judge – US District Judge Tanya Chutkan.
The news has caused widespread concern amongst conservatives over her impartiality, as she has already shown severe bias in her rulings towards those arrested for their involvement in the January 6th incident at the Capitol.
Trump is understandably concerned about the potential bias of Judge Chutkan against him and requested an immediate recusal from the case.
He expressed his worries on social media platform Truth Social, saying “There is no way I can get a fair trial with this judge ‘assigned’ to our ridiculous freedom of speech/fair elections case… We will be immediately asking for recusal of this judge on very powerful grounds”.
This sentiment was echoed by Monica Crowley, former Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Treasury who highlighted on X that Chutkan and Hunter Biden worked at Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP (BSF) together in the past.
This fact was confirmed by records showing Hunter Biden served as an attorney there from 2009-2014 while Chutkin also worked as an attorney and later became partner in 2007 before departing in 2014 when she was appointed as a judge by then-President Obama.
Adding fuel to suspicions about Judge Chutkan’s political inclinations are her public donation records which show she donated over $3,000 to Barack Obama’s campaigns between 2008 and 2012.
Further evidence of her alleged bias were drawn from professional connections with Hunter Biden while they both worked at BSF – including during his tenure on Burisma board (April 2014).
The news raises serious questions about impartiality within America’s justice system if judges presiding over cases against prominent political figures have existing relationships or political affiliations which could influence decisions they make during proceedings.
In this particular instance it seems clear that President Trump certainly harbors doubts about his ability to receive a fair hearing under Judge Chutkan given her connections with Hunter Biden.
