Breaking News: Ukrainian Threat Near Kremlin

Moscow was attacked by a swarm of drones on Wednesday as Ukraine launched “one of its largest” attacks of the kind. It’s making Russian citizens painfully aware of their presence in the Kursk region. Russia’s Ministry of Defense took credit for intercepting 11 of the unmanned explosive delivery devices over the capitol city and surrounding neighborhoods. Some were shot down over the city of Podolsk which is only 24 miles south of the Kremlin. Zelenskyy promises he’ll try harder, next time.

Drones buzz Moscow

Ukrainian drones are buzzing like flies around the Russian capitol and Muscovites are getting nervous. Forces of the enemy they invaded have turned the table and invaded them. As Vladimir Putin is well aware, their position in negotiations keeps getting stronger every day. If Vlad wants Kursk back, he needs to pull out of Ukrainian territory.

He should start with the town around the nuclear plant. If he’s not willing to give it up he should at least put smarter troops in place to guard it. The clowns in there now are likely to have it leaking radiation, from all the abuse they’re putting it through.

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on August 21, “this is one of the largest ever attempts to attack Moscow with drones.” Russian defenses managed to get them all. “No damage or casualties were reported.” Drone attacks on Moscow “are rare” but they have happened.

Today’s drone attack “appeared to be larger than a previous attack in May 2023,” when at least eight were struck down. Ukraine has troops on the ground inside Russian territory and they’re holding it tightly. Three bridges have been put out of commission, cutting off the Russian troops occupying Ukraine from their supplies.

When the time comes to trade land back, many of the inhabitants of Kursk want to be repopulated as Ukrainian.

While the big news of the day is Moscow being targeted with drones, that was only part of “a broader attack on Russia.” There were a whole bunch more keeping the defense team busy.

Moscow was attacked by a swarm of drones on Wednesday.

All across Russia

Even though none of the drones hit their intended target, they kept the Russian troops hopping with plenty of target practice. The Defense Ministry reports bagging 23 just over Bryansk, which lies along the border.

Six more were blasted over Belgorod, three “over the Kaluga region, which borders the Moscow region to its northeast.” There were two more in Kursk.

Separately, Russian news outlet RIA notes “that two drones were destroyed over the Tula region, which borders the Moscow region to its north.” The attacks are causing a bunch of confusion with the Russian population.

Following the assault on Moscow, temporary restrictions were imposed overnight at Moscow’s Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports.” Flights have since resumed.

While the Russian troops have been successful at shooting down the threats, so far, more attacks increase the chances of something getting through.

If Ukraine “targets the cities, how many of those drones will get through, what effect will they have on Russian strategic thinking because these cities are all very well protected, especially the capital? So it remains to be seen whether this is a departure or just a one-off by Ukraine’s military command.
