The suspect is under arrest and facing charges.

Williams is also connected to several child abuse cases, according to Taylor. He was previously charged with abusing children in Phenix City and Columbus. He was also a suspect in the death of a 1-year-old in Alaska, but that charge was dropped due to insufficient evidence, the sheriff said.”
In addition to capital murder, Williams is facing additional charges Sheriff Heath Taylor said, including capital murder during a kidnapping and rape. The girl appears to have suffered sexual abuse before being killed.
“It’s a sad time to speak about a 5-year-old. We’re having to work a case on a child who did nothing wrong.” he said.
“The Columbus Police Department and my office has done a lot of work in a short period of time. … There’s a lot of details that I’m not willing to disclose at this time because of the urgency in this case and potential other folks that we may be looking into as suspects or offenders alongside Mr. Williams.”
