A body was found hanging on high voltage wires near an electricity transfer station in Holyoke, Massachusetts during one afternoon.
A news release sent to local news outlet 22News by Holyoke Police Captain Matthew Moriarty revealed that officers were called to the Williamansett Bridge for a report of a body hanging.
When the police arrived at the bridge, which crosses into Chicopee, Massachusetts, they discovered a man hanging approximately 25 feet in the air from the high voltage wires of the electricity transfer station.
In the statement to 22News, Capt. Moriarty said that the electricity transfer station is closed off by a high chain link fence, and signs are posted in the area that explicitly state: “Danger, high voltage stay back.”
Capt. Moriarty also noted that there were no other signs of trespassing, and that it appeared that the victim acted on his own.
After Holyoke Gas & Electric was called to shut the power off, the body was removed from the high voltage wires.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
The Massachusetts State Police CPAC unit was called in to assist the Holyoke Police, and have been continuing to investigate the incident.
