Despite the media’s best efforts in covering up the failures of the Biden administration, the news recently broke of a serious crisis at the southern border, and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) wasted no time jumping into the spotlight to call Biden out.
In a Twitter thread on February 23, Ocasio-Cortez went on a long rant about the immigration policies under Biden, especially his decision to re-open another detention center to hold illegal immigrant children.
Sharing a report from left-wing news outlet The Washington Post announcing that the emergency detention facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas was being re-opened to house up 700 children between the ages of 13 to 17, AOC wrote: “This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay — no matter the administration or party.”

At least she’s being consistent on this issue, unlike many other Democrats who are helping hide the scandal by renaming the facilities, and claiming they are somehow more humane than the detention centers under Trump, despite the fact that they are the same facilities.
In her next tweet, she stated that the United States’ immigration system is “built on a carceral framework,” which is true, considering the fact that crossing the border illegally is illegal, and the punishment for doing something illegal is typically incarceration.

The far-left representative then went on to advocate for “bold reimagination” of the immigration system, calling out the Department of Homeland Security and calling for radical changes to be made. “DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more,” AOC tweeted.

According to the Washington Post, re-opening the facility in Texas, and another detention center in Homestead, Florida, is crucial because there was limited space in other facilities for illegal immigrant children to allow for social distancing. A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services also told the Post that holding minors in permanent centers is ideal, but at the moment they will have to stay in the temporary influx shelters.
Of course, none of these measures are good enough for AOC and the radical left. They don’t want any kind of system at the border: no identification, no checkpoints, no separation of children from adults to ensure they aren’t being trafficked. They just want open borders, and for anyone who makes the journey to be given taxpayer benefits and citizenship without any process whatsoever. Biden hasn’t done it yet, but many have speculated it is only a matter of time before the influence of the radical left wing of the Democrat Party takes control of White House policy.
