No, this is not a Donald Trump case, but for football fans, this is a big one.
If you recall, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has sexual assault charges filed against him dating back to a 2017 incident in the parking lot of a strip club.
Investigators have finally wrapped up their case, and it is good news for the Cowboys QB.
No Charges
Prescott got national headlines recently when he filed suit against a woman named Victoria Shores.
According to Prescott, Shores was trying to extort him for $100 million.
Not long after that case was filed, Shores came forward to allege that Prescott exposed himself to her in the back of an SUV and then sexually assaulted her.
According to Shores, the incident took place in the parking lot of XTC Cabaret, a men’s club in Dallas.
Police, however, say nothing happened.
This week, the Dallas Police stated, “Detectives determined there was insufficient evidence an offense was committed.”
Shores is not quite willing to give up her case, however, saying that Prescott’s suit is a violation of the “Anti Slapp” statute, which prohibits retaliation lawsuits against victims.
Prescott has always maintained his innocence, and I am sure he will go to the wall over this now, having just had his first child and playing in the final contract season with the Dallas Cowboys.
If the Cowboys do not resign Prescott before the season, he will hit the market next year as a free agent, but it would cost the Cowboys considerably with a massive cap hit this season of more than $50 million due to the structure of the Prescott contract.
If, however, the Cowboys want to move on from Prescott, they really have no other way to go about this because if they want to avoid that big hit, they would have to resign him to renegotiate how the salary his the cap this season.
For Cowboys fans who were expecting big things from their team this year, it would mean putting all those plans on hold while the Cowboys scrap an entire season, then look for a new QB that can take advantage of the talent the team has.
So far, Prescott has only won two of his seven playoff games, and has yet to get the Cowboys to the NFC Championship game, let alone winning a Super Bowl.
