Well, there is a new twist to that story as well.
As it turns out, there was another player in this little censorship operation.
Who Are They?
It looks like the FBI was giving orders to social media outlets from one other group.
That would be… wait for it… Ukraine.
The revelation comes via a new report from the House Judiciary Committee.
The FBI was reportedly honoring requests from Ukraine to censor accounts for sending out what they deemed to be “Russian disinformation.”
The report stated, “In light of well-documented instances of the FBI’s civil liberties abuses, this new information raises grave concerns about the FBI’s credibility as the nation’s premier law enforcement organization.
“FBI violated the First Amendment rights of Americans and potentially undermined our national security.”
Just the News reported, “The FBI pressured social media companies to crack down on the spread of so-called ‘Russian disinformation’ on behalf of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), according to a report from the House weaponization panel, but evidence suggests that the Russians had infiltrated the group and used the censorship pipeline to suppress anti-Putin and pro-Ukrainian materials.”
With every passing day, I cannot help but think that George Orwell got it right.
