Shop NowAccording to a statement released by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, he has decided to fire all regional “military commissars.”
This decision comes after an inspection revealed that some of the military officials had committed various crimes such as illegally obtaining cash and cryptocurrency, and transporting people eligible for military service across the border.
Furthermore, it was uncovered that the former head of the Odesa Oblast military enlistment office had purchased property worth $4.5 million in Spain.
This news arrives right on the heels of President Joe Biden requesting more than $24 billion in aid to Ukraine as part of a $40 billion package.
Out of this relief fund, Biden asked for $20 billion more than what he asked be used to address the ongoing border crisis – funds which will likely be put towards helping Ukraine fight against Russian invaders.
The American people are becoming increasingly wary about U.S involvement in this war.
A CNN poll showed that a majority of voters now oppose giving any additional funding to Ukraine despite Biden’s promises that America will provide support for “as long as it takes.”
The US has been sending weapons and other military equipment to Ukraine without being able to keep track of where those supplies were going or how they were being used – something which was outlined in a report last month from the inspector general for Department of Defense.
The report also listed numerous examples detailing how groups within Ukraine have acquired military equipment for nefarious purposes even though its original source remained unclear due to heavy redactions throughout the document itself.
