A Supreme Court decision just came down that will likely having Democrats calling the Supreme Court a MAGA court again.
This is a decision that will most definitely have an impact on union tactics in the future.
The court rules that a union did not properly safeguard company assets during a strike.
Can’t Do That
We are getting a real taste of what Justice Jackson is now all about.
The language in her dissent was disgusting, to say the least.
Furthermore, she was the only dissenting opinion in the case, with the two remaining liberal justices siding with majority opinions.
At hand was the tactic of union drivers walking off the job with the trucks still full of wet cement.
In one of the majority opinions, Justice Barrett wrote, “The Union’s actions not only resulted in the destruction of all the concrete Glacier had prepared that day; they also posed a risk of foreseeable, aggravated, and imminent harm to Glacier’s trucks.”
Justice Jackson disagreed, writing, “Workers are not indentured servants, bound to continue laboring until any planned work stoppage would be as painless as possible for their master.”
The use of the word “master” in this context is completely and utterly despicable, implying these workers are slaves to the business owner.
If she had her way, destruction of property would be perfectly acceptable during the course of a union strike, which is completely and utterly idiotic.
This was purposely done by workers, who showed up for work knowing they would strike once the trucks were loaded.
It looks like the Teamsters will be writing a rather significant check, which they will surely raise union dues to cover.
