Once known as a world-famous supermodel with jaw dropping beauty, Linda Evangelista would walk runways across the entire globe. Now, in her older years, she made the decision to get plastic surgery done likely the in the hopes of maintaining her once youthful appearance. However, the surgery was botched, leaving the former supermodel disfigured and forcing her into hiding.
Recently, former supermodel Linda Evangelista was seen out and about in New York City months after revealing the effects of a botched fat-freezing procedure that left her “permanently deformed”.
She made a statement by wearing an oversized denim jacket paired with black sweatpants and Birkenstock sandals for the summer day. Later in the day she changed into a long flowing dress while carrying flowers.
Evangelista has been largely absent from the public eye for six years due to Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia, which is a hardening of localized fat. She had two corrective surgeries that failed to help her condition and consequently suffered from depression and became reclusive.
She decided to share her story with People magazine because she was finally ready to move past hiding in shame.

The Canadian supermodel was married to 72-year-old French agent Gerald Marie. He allegedly ran a sex ring within his multinational modeling agency. He was one of the most powerful men in the fashion industry when he became the European chief of Elite Model Management throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
One of his victims was 53-year-old model Carre Sutton. She filed an ongoing lawsuit against the French agent, claiming that he raped her when she was a sixteen-year-old girl recruited into the modeling agency back in 1985. She claimed that Marie “trafficked” her and other women “to other wealthy men around Europe, where he was reportedly known as the ‘Harvey Weinstein of the fashion industry.’”
Evangelista revealed in an Instagram post back in September that she was hiding from the limelight because of her botched plastic surgery. She underwent a procedure known as CoolSculpting, which is a form of cryolipolysis. The procedure is designed to decrease the size of fat cells. However, it failed to work as planned for the former supermodel, and she began developing “bulges” around her body.
Linda Evangelista’s story serves as a powerful reminder to love our bodies just as they are despite any imperfections or differences we may have compared to others around us. We should never feel ashamed or embarrassed about our appearance, rather, we should learn how to embrace who we are no matter what society dictates should be beautiful or perfect.
Even though this fashion icon has kept herself out of the spotlight since coming forward with her story, many fans hope that this might be a sign of an eventual return to the runway or further sharing of her tale so others can gain insight from it.
