Alec Baldwin DEVASTATED… The Verdict is In

Alec Baldwin’s manslaughter trial is set to begin next week for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin’s attorneys threw a Hail Mary pass to try to have the charges dismissed, arguing the gun in question was damaged and unable to be fully tested.

That motion was declined, so the trial will move forward on July 9.

You Are Going to Trial

Hutchins, if you recall, was allegedly shot and killed by Baldwin after he aimed the gun at her during a rehearsal for a shot.

In addition to Hutchins being killed, Joel Souza, the director of the film, “Rust,” was shot and injured.

Baldwin has maintained that the gun went off on its own and that he never pulled the trigger.

To test that theory, the FBI put the gun through significant testing, including bashing the gun from various angles with a mallet to see if they could get the trigger to go off on its own… they were not able to do that.

However, during that testing, the gun was damaged, so Baldwin’s attorneys were arguing that since the FBI damaged the gun, further testing for modifications and such was not able to be conducted, so they wanted to have the case tossed.

A New Mexico judge disagreed, so the trial will now move forward as scheduled.

Among those that will be called in the trial are Souza, who we mentioned above, and Dave Halls, the assistant director who pleaded no contest to negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the movie’s armorer, was tried earlier and received an 18-month sentence after having been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
