That is what Donald Trump wants to see happen.
Since the election, the former president has had it out for Senator McConnell (R-KY).
After a negative report showed up in The Federalist about McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, Trump decided to call for the immediate removal of McConnell from his GOP leadership role.
Time to Go
The report was a deep dive into Chao’s alleged ties to China.
This gets a bit sticky because Chao served as Trump’s Transportation Secretary.
Point being, if she is tied to the Chinese, this can also hurt Trump.
Regardless, Trump, as usual, is throwing caution to the wind and going for the throat.
Trump stated, “Mitch McConnell is not an Opposition Leader, he is a pawn for the Democrats to get whatever they want.
“He is afraid of them, and will not do what has to be done.
“A new Republican Leader in the Senate should be picked immediately!”
For the record, we could not agree more.
McConnell is weak, only grandstanding when it benefits him.
For my liking, he caves far too often and is afraid to stand up to old man Joe, as we saw during the passing of the budget, twice.
If Trump runs and wins, it is hard to imagine McConnell even wanting to remain leader, let alone working with Trump in a productive way.
