NASCAR Driver Arrested…Shocking Allegations

ICYMI – NASCAR isn’t taking the possibility of domestic abuse lightly. The massive racing corporation has suspended driver Cody Ware indefinitely. This was after his arrest on felony assault charges in North Carolina.

Cody Ware is a 27-year-old Race driver for Rick Ware Racing. According to arrest records and online reports, Ware was taken into custody by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony “assault by strangulation-inflict serious injury” and misdemeanor assault on a female.

He was released on a $3,000 bond later the same day.

NASCAR announced the indefinite suspension of Ware on Twitter after his arrest.

The Associated Press was able to get a copy of the police report. They reported that the arrest stems from an alleged domestic violence incident that took place in the late night hours of April 3.

Ware was absent from the NASCAR Cup Series dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday. The news of his arrest was circulated after the race.

Rick Ware Racing is owned by Ware’s father. The racing company made the announcement of Coody’s absence at the NASCAR Cup Series claiming the driver was dealing with a “personal matter.”

“Cody Ware will step away from racing this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway to focus on a personal matter,” the statement read. “Matt Crafton will drive the No. 51 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing.”

Rick Ware Racing issued a statement Monday after Cody’s arrest. The statement read that Ware is “fully cooperating with the authorities.”

“We are aware of the incident regarding Cody Ware and his indefinite suspension from NASCAR competition. We understand NASCAR’s position on this matter and accept their decision,” the statement read.

“The matter is still under investigation and Cody is fully cooperating with the authorities, as due process takes its course. RWR is committed to continuing our multi-car efforts in the NASCAR Cup Series and is in the process of finalizing our plans for the No. 51 entry at Martinsville Speedway, and beyond.”
