Tom Homan isn’t thrilled that Chicago city officials leaked his mass deportation plan ahead of time. Not only did they tip off all the most dangerous fugitives, they had their information wrong. At this point, ICE isn’t sure if they can carry out the inaugural sweep operation as planned. They haven’t decided to call it off, either.
Deportation plan snag
There’s a little snag in the plan for Tom Homan’s first mass deportation roundup. The incoming administration is anxious to get the rodeo started and planned a massive raid operation for the day after Donald Trump is sworn in.
Someone in Chicago’s city administration leaked that it would happen on Tuesday, January 21. All the most wanted fugitives instantly went into hiding. “Why Chicago was specifically mentioned, I don’t know,” Homan relates. “This is a nationwide thing. We’re not sweeping neighborhoods. We have a targeted enforcement plan.”
Two days before the massive detention sweep was set to begin, Border Czar Tom Homan regretfully announced that “the administration is reconsidering immigration raids on Chicago and New York after details were leaked in news reports.”

They may have to pick another day for deportation raids in those areas. The element of surprise is crucial.
Homan isn’t just another bureaucrat. He formerly served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Joe Biden’s handlers shifted him off to the side because he was way too good at his job.
He was sure to inform the press that the new administration “hasn’t made a decision yet.” They might start the deportation sweeps elsewhere. “We’re looking at this leak and will make a decision based on this leak.”
Puts officers at risk
Homan is disappointed that the violent criminal migrants specially targeted for deportation have scattered into hiding. He’s a lot more upset that ICE agents are in greater danger. Gang banging migrants could set up an ambush and wait for agents to break down the door. “It’s unfortunate because anyone leaking law enforcement operations puts officers at great risk.”
Democrats think they’re being cute but it won’t work. “There’s going to be a big raid all across the country. Chicago is just one of many places. ICE is finally going to do their job. We’re going to take the handcuffs off of ICE and let them go arrest criminal aliens. That’s what’s going to happen.”
Homan picked Chicago and New York because the Democrat run sanctuary cities go out of their way to protect border jumpers. When they put out the welcome mat, migrants came flocking.

Not all of them are dangerous criminals but all of them are breaking the law. Initial plans called for between 100-200 officers to swoop in and spend an entire week packing illegals up for instant deportation.
Immigration and Customs agents were thwarted when the Chicago City Council “rejected an effort to allow police to cooperate with immigration enforcement.” They spelled out the date the operation was to begin.
Mayor Brandon Johnson went on TV to shout the warning. “We intend to stand by and protect Chicago’s immigrant communities against threats from ICE.” If a migrant is ordered for deportation and Johnson tries to prevent it, Johnson will find himself under arrest for aiding and abetting.
