Censorship on demand
The censorship of conservative speech is way too far out of hand. Jim Jordan, in his capacity as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee sent off another one of his polite requests for information. Refusal to cooperate escalates to subpoena.
Even Merrick Garland, Christopher Wray, and Antony Blinken have backed down before pushing it to the next level, contempt of Congress. This time, the letter went out to “an anti-hate-speech organization” called the Center for Countering Digital Hate.
In the letter dated August 3, Jordan informed the organization, which specializes in tracking “online hate speech and misinformation,” that they’re probing “the organization’s interactions with the federal government and social media companies.” Two days earlier, Elon Musk sued the group, “alleging the nonprofit improperly accessed data while researching the social media platform.” The platform formerly known as “Twitter,” which now uses some strange “Prince-like” symbol for a name.

Jordan notes that “certain third parties, including organizations like yours, appear to have played a role in this censorship regime by advising the government and social media companies on so-called ‘misinformation,‘ and other types of content — sometimes with direct or indirect support or approval from the federal government.”
That isn’t legal. As Jordan points out, “this ‘censorship regime,‘ threatens the First Amendment and ‘Americans’ civil liberties.‘” The handlers of Joe Biden “relied on CCDH in its unconstitutional pressure campaign against social media platforms to censor Americans.”
Imran Ahmed, the CEO of CCDH, wasn’t happy to read his mail. He’s terrified to hand over the documents, calling the requests a “transparent fishing expedition” by the committee.

Go fish
Apparently, Ahmed’s lawyers haven’t yet advised him about his obligations to congressional oversight. “I fear all of this is an attempt to hinder, delay and silence our work exposing hate and harmful disinformation online,” Ahmed whined in a statement. He seems to think his little censorship network is acceptable because they’re unpaid, volunteer censors.
CCDH, Ahmed swears, has “never taken a dime from the U.S. government,” and they aren’t “funded by social media companies,” either. Where they get their operating cash from doesn’t matter one bit. The important part is what they do.
Republican in the House have been howling that “conservatives have seen their free speech curtailed on social media.” It’s crystal clear that the Biden regime has been in cahoots with Lizard Boy and all the progressive platforms to dispense uncontrolled censorship.

Not a single topic was safe. “The controversy has covered an array of issues.” Anything which disagreed with the official narrative on everything.
Jordan may be fishing but he has a sharp hook and he’s looking to dredge up “documents and communications between the CCDH and both the executive branch and any technology companies.” Anything related to the “moderation, deletion, suppression, restriction, demonetization, or reduced circulation of content; the accuracy of or truth of content; or the attribution of content to the source or participant in a foreign malign or state-sponsored influence operation.”
Ahmed has until August 17 at 5 p.m. to cough up all the censorship details or a process server will be waiting for him to leave his office.
