Home Depot Receives Harsh Criticism After THIS Goes Viral

One branch of Home Depot is receiving significant backlash after a notice to its employees went viral, which discussed the benefits of “white privilege” and included a checklist for those who are “white, male, Christian, cisgender, able-bodied, and heterosexual.”

The controversial notice, entitled “Leading Practices – Unpacking privilege,” was posted in an employee lounge at a Home Depot in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The notice went viral after it was posted on Twitter. Many people are now threatening to boycott the Canadian store.

Images below show a packet called “Leading Practices: Unpacking Privilege,” which were reportedly photographed by a Home Depot employee.

The handout highlights so-called social advantages such as white privilege, class privilege, Christian privilege, and cisgender privilege that supposedly benefit some people to the detriment of others.

For example, it claims that “If you’re confident that the police exist to protect you, you have white privilege,” and “If you can expect time off from work to celebrate your religious holidays, you have Christian privilege.”

It also lists being able-bodied, heterosexual, and male as other types of privilege.

The Home Depot spokeswoman wouldn’t immediately say whether the information had been discontinued in its Canadian division.

The New York Post shared a statement from the spokeswoman:

“While we fully support diversity across our company, this material was not created or approved by our corporate diversity, equity and inclusion department. This was a resource in our Canadian division and not part of any required programming.”

Some of the packet’s privilege warnings state:

  • “If while growing up, college was an expectation of you, not a dream, you have class privilege.”
  • “If you can use public bathrooms without stares, fear, or anxiety, you have the cisgender privilege.”
  • “If you don’t have to worry about how to get into a store, you have the able-bodied privilege.”
  • “If you don’t have to explain that your spouse is of the same gender, you have the heterosexual privilege.”

According to a source familiar with the notice, Home Depot does not require that the content of the notice be taught as part of its diversity and inclusion initiative.

Some conservatives and free speech advocates have denounced attempts by companies and colleges to impose “woke” indoctrination.

One Twitter user responded to the packet, writing: “Imagine how messed up people have to be before a major corporation decides to post this and their break room.”
