Shop NowEarlier this week, the Biden administration filed for immunity protections for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salma (MBS).
This happened after Biden had been preaching about holding him accountable since the days of the 2020 election.
Those that were depending on Biden to remain true to his word are now speaking out.
Let Them Down
In its filing, the administration stated, “Mohammed bin Salman, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is the sitting head of government and, accordingly, is immune from this suit.”
Abdullah Alaoudh, research director for the Gulf at Democracy for the Arab World Now, was livid, stating, “The Biden administration just put the final nail in the coffin for any accountability and opened the gate for [the crown prince] to conduct more Khashoggi-like operations.”
A journalist for WaPo stated, “The Trump administration, for all of its embrace of [the crown prince], never gave him the immunity he wanted.
“He has been seeking immunity since 2020, 2021. The Trump administration left office without acting on that request.
“It’s disturbing that the Biden administration ends up doing what Donald Trump himself wouldn’t do.”
Karine Jean-Pierre tried to justify the administration’s position, stating, “It’s nothing to do with the merits of this case.
“The United States consistently has afforded head of state immunity to heads of governments.”
John Kirby also commend that Biden “has been very, very clear and very vocally so about the brutal, barbaric murder of Mr. Khashoggi.”
But those were just words.
With his actions, he just ensured that MSB will never be held accountable.
