Shop NowAs the Republican candidates continue to battle against one another on the debate stage, former President Donald Trump continues to dominate the polls. Trump has maintained his frontrunning position through the entire election season thus far, and just recently he just dropped a bombshell regarding his potential running mate.
On Wednesday evening, September 27, during a speech in Michigan, Trump revealed that he did not see much potential for a running mate among the current crop of Republican candidates contending for the 2024 nomination.
Trump referred to the seven candidates gathered in California for the second Republican primary debate as “all job candidates” and asked rhetorically, “Has anyone seen a VP in that group? I don’t think so.”
Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, clarified later that Trump was indeed ruling out all seven from consideration as his running mate.
The previous week saw speculation that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem could be high on his list of possible Vice Presidential nominees since she had given him “a very full-throated endorsement, a beautiful endorsement.”
When pressed about his interest in this particular candidate, he responded favorably saying, “I think she’s fantastic. She’s been a great governor.” He did express caution though by noting that he wants to make sure he finds “the right person” and concluded with an emphasis on winning rather than selecting someone strategically.

Not only have polling numbers skyrocketed since Trump was hit with four indictments in New York, Washington D.C., Fulton County GA and southern Florida but Reuters/Ipsos polls also show Trump leading Biden across several key swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania.
Among independent voters too there is greater favorability towards Donald who was favored by 32% compared to 30% support for Joe Biden with 38% undecided.
The Daily Caller cited an Echelon Insights survey which showed 48% respondents indicating they would probably or definitely vote for former POTUS while 41% expressed preference for Joe Biden with 11% undecided.
It remains to be seen whether or not Kristi Noem will end up at being chosen as his running mate, but so far things are certainly pointing in that direction.
