Shop NowCalifornia Lawmaker Nancy Pelosi fell down some stairs in Luxembourg on Friday. She’s in the hospital but expected to make a full recovery. There aren’t a whole lot of details currently available.
Nancy Pelosi in hospital
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was rushed to the hospital on Friday, December 13. It was definitely her unlucky day.
Initial reports only said that she was “injured while traveling abroad on a bipartisan congressional delegation to Luxembourg.” A little while later AP broke a few more details.
The 84-year-old California Democrat “sustained an injury during an official engagement.” According to Pelosi spokesunit Ian Krager, “she was admitted to a hospital for evaluation.”
That’s about all he said. His “brief statement” provided “no details on the nature of the injury or how it occurred.”
A little while later, AP reported that “Ms. Pelosi tripped going down marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace and took a hard fall.”
They got their inside scoop from “a person familiar with the incident who was not authorized to comment and spoke on condition of anonymity.” He didn’t say if she’d been drinking.

Traveling with colleagues
Pelosi was on a little tour junket, hobnobbing with “colleagues from the House and the Senate to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.”
Due to her injury, “she was set to miss the remainder of her official engagements.” She’s reportedly “working from the hospital.”
It’s good to know that Nancy Pelosi is “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.”
She’s hoping to be back on her feet in time to catch the return flight home. She looks forward to doing that soon. It’s apparently a bipartisan week for octogenarian injuries.
Besides Pelosi, outgoing Republican Senator Mitch “Tooter the Turtle” McConnell “tripped and fell in the Capitol following the weekly G.O.P. luncheon.”
At least the 82-year-old didn’t freeze up again. He sprained his wrist and sustained “a small cut to his face.“
