Shop NowThe likelihood of Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) going to jail seems almost certain based on the evidence that I have seen so far.
That means his seat is going to be up for grabs.
Even if Menendez decides to run for office, he will be challenged.
One of those challengers could be the wife of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Tammy Murphy.
Interesting…
There is a lot to look at here, especially if Menendez decides to resign.
According to the Constitution of New Jersey, the governor would appoint a Senator to replace the resigning Senator.
If Tammy Murphy decides to throw her name in the hat, would Murphy be so bold as to appoint his wife to that seat?
If he did, she would be the incumbent, making her almost unbeatable in the election.
Now, I don’t believe that Menendez will step down, but if he does not run for re-election, Murphy likely soars to the front of the pack solely on the strength of the popularity of Phil Murphy.
It will be an interesting race to watch, for sure.
